About Diana
Diana's elegant and playful performaces have delighted audiences in the Northwest.
She learned about the beauty and power of the dance by watching her mother,
Basima (right, and together below), perform, and although Diana didn't start
dancing until more recently she has always felt a connection with Middle Eastern
music.
Diana has taken classes and workshops from some of the finest dance artists
in the Northwest and beyond, including: Saqra ,
Nabeela el Shalimar, Sabura, Tina Sargent, Aziza, and Jillina.
After immersing herself in the dance, Diana became an active member
of Saqra's troupe, Raqs el Sehr Shamal, and performed in many shows
in Washington and Oregon.
Diana has become a sought-after performer in the Northwest and has danced up and down the west coast and in front of nearly 1200 people on a cruise ship. She has recently started entering competitions and has earned:
2nd place, Alternative category, 2003 Belly Dancer USA Competition
2nd place, Gemini (duet) category, 2003 Double Crown Competition
Diana also volunteers her time and talent and has donated performances to various charitable organizations.
